The Research Scientist in in-vitro and in-vivo for the Immunology group is responsible for conducting a variety of complex research activities under the guidance of the Principal Scientist/Lab Head to reach the objectives of the immunology program.

About the Role

Your Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities include designing and executing both in vitro and in vivo experiments. The in-vivo activities focus on managing diverse models of autoimmunity and conducting pharmacology studies, while in vitro responsibilities include developing and performing assays to characterize immune cell function. 

The Research Scientist will also analyse experimental data, interprets findings, proposes innovative strategies to advance research, and maintains meticulous experimental records. Additionally, they will prioritise tasks effectively to meet project deadlines, and ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulatory standards.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Completed apprenticeship as a laboratory technician or Bachelor/Masters in biochemistry, biology, molecular biology, life sciences, or a related field
  • Minimum 2-3 years relevant lab based work experience in an industrial or academic setting, preferably in immunology

Research Techniques and Expertise:

  • Proficiency in mouse models and handling techniques, including blood sampling, oral gavage, injections (SC/IV/IP), perfusion, organ harvesting, anesthesia, and euthanasia
  • Expertise in cellular immunology methods, such as multicolor flow cytometry, flow-activated cell sorting, ELISA, multiplex assays, and microscopy
  • Expertise in cell culture of primary murine immune cells and in vitro functional assays (e.g., cytotoxicity, proliferation, activation)
  • Experience with molecular biology techniques, including PCR, cloning, CRISPR gene editing, sequencing, transfection, and viral transduction of primary immune cells

Analytical and Organizational Skills:

  • Maintains experimental records and prepares reports aligned with study objectives and compliance guidelines
  • Demonstrates strong planning and organizational skills, including prioritizing tasks, allocating resources, and meeting deadlines
  • Eager to learn and combine new techniques and concepts, to present results within the lab, to use and apply literature data, to perform exploratory activities and to work independently and as a team member
  • Adapts quickly to new concepts and applies insights to drive innovative research solutions
  • Used to evaluating large datasets and interest to use new informatics analysis tools
  • Excellent oral and written English
